"Soul of Provence. Dawn"

Ten years ago, while traveling in the south of France, I saw this lavender serenity. And I repeatedly return to the theme of lavender fields in my work. In Provence they say that the color of the sky and the blood of the earth are mixed in purple petals. I mixed here: a friend’s blouse, my mom’s four combinations, a few pairs of mother-in-law’s stockings, and lots of socks. Recycling is what it is.

White is everything. It suggests purity, innocence, spirituality. Milk, pearls, canvas. And also it is nothing, bones, ashes. The main thing is that white means the color itself (an element that is included in all cultures). In Judaism, this tone is associated with gray hair, which means longevity, old age, joy. Jewish girls on the harvest festival dance in the moonlight in tight light dresses, then the young men choose their future spouses. Such dresses erase social differences, you have to choose for taste, intelligence, grace, etc. In Indian traditions, it belongs to the Brahmins, because it is believed that Brahma himself was born in a lotus – a flower of pale white color. Brahmins (a caste of priests) preserve the traditions of society. White color is a symbol of the spiritual, non-material, other-dimensional. Assumes timelessness, ecstasy. A symbol of unity in which diversity unites. It also means the memory of ancestors, the change of stages of existence. White baby diaper, bridal veil, shroud. In ancient Greece, there was a myth about a white rock, flying over which, the dead forgot their lives.
"My postcard from Venice. Rialto Bridge"

I love this inspiring city: all shades of water and smells, many-voiced crowd during the day and the solitude at night. I love Venice buildings, they grew into each other, merged with embankments, arcades, the sea into a large labyrinth. In which I never navigate by map. During the day – according to the sun, at night – intuitively. This landscape is my Venetian souvenir.

Portrait of my adult daughter. This is one of the “quarantine” works. The impossibility of meeting with her this year. Nostalgia for his native sunny city on the seashore – was the reason for the portrait in “hot” colors.
"The wind sways the silk petals of irises"
70 x 50 cm
The direction of recycling-art.
Made of knitted fabric on a plastic base (mesh).
Old, worn out, favorite clothes are reborn into my favorite flower, the king of modernity – iris. I wanted to convey the dynamics of the petals in the wind. Their silk is transparent and ghostly. Their transience is like a sign that everything passes. This spring was not easy … But irises appeared, like every year. While creating the panel, I thought about hope and patience. This spring has taught many of us patience and has not forgotten how to hope.
"In the labyrinth of gray walls. Fluffy imitation of Mondrian"

Diptych consists of 2 parts: 60 x 102 cm and rectangular 38 x 102 cm Attempts to imitate the genius of Mondrian are common – in fashion, architecture, topography and design. I called my work an imitation, but it is not really so. I called my work an imitation, but it is not really so. Here my love for lines and planes – this is simple geometry. And of course, the palette – a lot of gray flaps fall into my hands.
"What is the curtain hiding?"

Made of knitted fabric on a plastic base (mesh).
What is the curtain hiding? This element of mystery, hidden eroticism. This imaginary barrier, the boundary between life visible and behind the scenes. Or maybe this curtain does not hide anything from us, but hides, protects us from something, on this side of the backstage…

Ursaria…Ursarium…Vrsarium…Orsaria… Sounds like the purr of a predator. Stones of medieval buildings and ruins, transparent sea, islands and fantastic sunsets. This is a nice and romantic Vrsar (bear) Accidental discovery and love at first sight. Place of my inspiration.

These floral “portraits” are inspired by nature, folk art and culture of the countries I visit on my travels. For example, painting Turkish ceramics, folk embroidery or bouquets in the florist’s shop next door. It’s not just flowers. Each of them tells its own story. About me, people close to me or even strangers. The entire “palette” of this work is selected from twenty kilograms of old, worn-out things, cut into pieces.
"Reflection. Vitrupe river. Gulf of Riga"

Made of knitted fabric on a plastic base (mesh).
A river flows lazily along the shore. Vitrupe. Now approaching, then moving away from the edge of the amber waves, until it finally meets the sea. Sometimes the sea flows into it, passing a wide strip of the beach and leaving wavy drawingson the sand … It is the part of my memory.
